We had a great week in EDC! The students loved reading about the Narwhal and what he puts on his sandwich.
This upcoming week we have our Parent/Teacher conferences. There will be no classes for our EDC students on March 12, 2020. You are most welcome to bring your child with you to conferences. We are looking forward to meeting with all of you! Last day of classes before spring break will be on Thursday March 19th! Classes resume on Monday March 30th. This year, Pink Shirt Day, or Anti-Bullying Day, is on February 26.
It is a day when people come together by wearing pink shirts to school or work to show they are against bullying. The focus for 2020 is "lift each other up." North Haven Leadership students will be back on the 'kindness patrol' all week, looking for evidence of students making kind choices to lift each other up. Please talk as a family about the huge positive impact that choosing kindness can have on the life of another person. We are already into the 2nd week of February!! Just a reminder that there will be No school on Thursday February 13th (Teacher's Convention) and Monday February 17th (Family Day).
You are welcome to send Valentines cards with your child to school on Wednesday February 12, 2020. Dear Parents, Welcome back to all our EDC Families! We hope everyone had a restful break! The students have been very busy making pizza in our morning classroom pizza shop and making coffee in our Tim Horton's afternoon dramatic play area. During body break students have been focused on climbing ladders, crawling through tunnels, jumping in ball pits and using a variety of swings. Reminder... Kindergarten Registration begins on January 20, 2020 The cold weather is among us, please dress your child in warm clothing including toques, mitts, snowpants and snow boots. We are in search of new and lightly used pants from our K-grade 3 friends! Please donate any extras if you have some to be given to children when needed.
Dear Parents, Thank you to all the families that were able to attend conferences. Thursday December 19th is Pajama Day! Please your send you child in their favorite pajamas! North Haven’s Parent Council is doing a cheque writing campaign! Last year’s campaign funded new MacBook Airs to support technology in the classroom. The goal this year is to reach $5000. Currently, parent council has raised $1800 of donations! Please help support the cause! This could potentially fund new robotics, a soccer residency, and karate. Cheques can be made out to the Calgary Board of Education. Donations over $25.00 with the student’s name in the memo will be given a tax receipt. Thank you for supporting new learning opportunities at North Haven. MyCBE / PowerSchool will be unavailable from Dec. 20, 2019, at 5 p.m., to Dec. 27, 2019, at 11:59 p.m., for an important upgrade. This includes student fees and service registrations (i.e., transportation and noon supervision) In the spirit of giving, the staff, students, families, and community members of North Haven came together on Dec. 13th for our annual Community Family Outreach. The turnout and support for this special night was truly remarkable. It was a heartwarming evening. Thank you to everyone! It brought all members of our community together while incorporating the gift of giving. Happy Holidays from all the staff at North Haven!
